Time & Space

Taking a break from human time & space,
I sit alone on my back deck for a few minutes:

Looking up, I embrace
   the shimmering fractal boundaries
      of trees against the sky
         like the coast of Maine.
      Evergreen, oak, maple,
         black cherry, birch, sassafras

I inhale deeply … Earth, infinity, timelessness.
I exhale slowly … blowing the squareness
   of human time & space
   right out of my mind;

My heart soars like a red tailed hawk
   above this garden-of-eden Earth
   … way in the middle of the air.

I hear the noisy rooster, crows,
   blue jays, and a red tailed hawk
      against a canvas of wind
         whispering in the trees.
Water-colored clouds float by
   mirroring the fractal boundaries;
The ever-changing, everlasting,
   ever-beautiful dance is on;
I take off my glasses and see perfectly
   … all angles are right.

My heart breaks open like an eggshell
   releasing waves of love and gratitude.
I smile … and want to crack a yoke.
